After having suffered severe pain every month during ovulation, due to Mittelschmerz (one-sided, lower abdominal pain that occurs in women at or around the time of an egg is released from the ovaries) since July 2010, I went back on the pill for 3 months to see whether this would re-balance my menstrual cycle. Whilst I was on the pill and not ovulating I was fine, but when I came off it again, the pain re-occurred. I could not continue to deal with this pain every month, the doctor had given me Tramadol which was reducing the pain slightly but the side affect from the painkillers was causing me incredible discomfort for 4 or 5 days after. This was having a huge impact on my life, the day of the Mittelschmerz would make me bedbound and the following few days I would be struggling to stand up straight my stomach was so painful.

My sister said to try reflexology, so I searched online and contacted Jackie at Harpenden Holistics, who very kindly changed her plans so she could see me at very short notice. I knew the Mittelschmerz was due in the next couple of days as I started to get a twinge. I had my first reflexology session last week and by the time I left the twinges had gone. I was worried that it may just delay the Mittelschmerz but a week later and still no pain. It was amazing, like a miracle!

Jackie also gave me some reflexology techniques to do on my hands, which I was doing 3 or 4 times a day.

I would recommend Jackie for her reflexology, the whole experience was brilliant, she made me very relaxed, in a calming environment and genuinely cares. I will continue to have a course of 6 sessions or more if necessary, because not only has the reflexology stopped the pain, but it is really relaxing and enjoyable. I will definitely be recommending Jackie to all my friends and family in the future.

I visited Jackie after experiencing tension in my back and shoulders which restricted my ability to breastfeed my newborn and limited my sleep. Following one treatment, Jackie was able to give me greater mobility to comfortably feed my child and return to sleeping as I desperately needed.
